

Evening Talk - 'What's in a Name?'
Wednesday 10 October, 7.30pm, Gifford Village Hall Sandra Goodswen will give a talk entitled ‘What’s in a Name’. She says “I love all plants, garden and wild, and I'm particularly interested in their old uses as well as their names. Their names often give information about the plant, their origins or who first named them - if you can read the clues!”


The Fungi of East Lothian - 2 Talk & Walk Events
The Autumn programme of talks starts on 12 September at 7.30pm in Gifford Village Hall. Nev Kilkenny, fungi expert based at Edinburgh Botanics and Ranger for Gifford Community Woodland Trust, will give a talk on ‘The Fungi of East Lothian’. Following this talk, there will be an opportunity to attend a ‘Fungi Foray’ on Saturday 22 September, 10am - 2pm. Champion Trees & the Lost Gardens of Yester - East Lothian Archaeology Fortnight
East Lothian Council is organising a series of East Lothian events to mark East Lothian Archaeology and Local History Fortnight. One of particular interest to Gifford residents is a talk and two walks on the Champion Trees and Lost Gardens of Yester.
This tells the story of the changing dynamics of the landscape, gardens and buildings of Yester, reflecting fashions from the 13th century onwards. Remnants of Yester's intriguing history can still be seen on the ground and

Gifford Flower Show Sneak Preview....
I don’t want to give too much away before the show officially opens but make sure you come along and see the beautiful exhibits in this year’s show.... loads to see, plus hand carved wood products to buy, free facepainting, Gifford Community Woodland and of course plants for sale! Saturday 18th August, 2pm - 8pm & Sunday 19th August, 9-4pm, Gifford Village Green.
