Tattie Talk - 12 Feb 2020

We're delighted to welcome potato guru John Marshall to Gifford in February, to deliver one of his famous Tattie Talks. John is a winner of the illustrious Haigh Trophy, following a career which included a position as Seed Buyer at WCF Horticulture, a position within the Potato Marketing Board and as a seed potato trader. Having retired a few years ago, he now has more time to share his passion for potatoes, with talks to groups, schools and even manning a potato stand at the Chelsea Flower Show! A Tribute to Ian McNaughton

We were pleased to be able to share this fascinating article by Beryl McNaughton about her late husband Ian, which featured in a recent edition of the Caley journal. A winner of the Dr Patrick Neil Medal for his contribution to Scottish horticulture, Ian devoted many years to a breeding programme of Autumn flowering gentians, suitable for growing in containers. This fascinating article about his work includes wonderful photographs of these beautiful cultivars, many of which are available from the NcNaughton's nursery in Pencaitland, Macplants.
