

Joyce McIntosh - An Appreciation
by John Sheldon and Helen Lee From its foundation in 1848, the Gifford Horticultural Society has been overseen by a committee of enthusiasts. Today the Society still relies on people of a like mind who are passionate about gardens. Joyce McIntosh, who sadly died on the 9th May 2020, was such a person. Although originally a Flower Show volunteer, she was co-opted to the committee in 2011. She also served as a Show steward, assisting in the challenging task of managing the flow

2020 Flower Show Cancelled
It is with deep regret that we have to inform everyone that this year’s show has been cancelled. As we are sure you will appreciate, this decision was not taken lightly and consideration had to be given to a wide range of factors – not least, the health and safety of the large number of volunteers upon whom the show relies. We hope that it may still be possible to hold a mini children’s show and an outdoor plant sale – and these will be discussed further by your committee ov


North Berwick in Bloom Tulip Festival
It's worth a visit to the North Berwick in Bloom website at any time of year but it's lovely to see that their annual Tulip Festival carries on regardless this year, albeit in a slightly different format. Their 2000+ tulips were planted in November and so well ahead of the current COVID crisis and despite their regular gardening sessions unable to go ahead, the tulip planters are blooming regardless and delighting locals.
